Sacred Haven by TheFlyingSparrow Sacred Haven by TheFlyingSparrow
This has literally been quite a process. I really had to push myself in terms of architecture here, and I believe there's still space for improvement here, but for now I'll call it a day.
I used some rock textures, but most of them got painted over again.
Feedback is very much appreciated! Enjoy. :)

Edit: Updated the sky, so the moon wouldn't be that much of a distraction anymore. Unlike expected it worked out pretty well, too.

Hey that looks fantastic!!! Could be a classic image. You certainly have a gift. I can now see myself in a boat, rowing towards the harbour, to go up into the temple. :highfive:

Beautifully evocative image! If anything I think the clouds need a little extra work, otherwise superb.
Plus after looking again (seeing as youve asked for feedback) I find the full moon distracting. It seems to me the Temple lights are the main attraction, and if the moon was behind the clouds so that it was more of a dim disc, rather than in full view, you would still have the atmosphere but, the eye wouldnt be pulled to the moon so much. IMHO.
I do really like the image as it is though!

Thank you so much for your feedback!
I didn't want to go overboard with detail on the clouds, so I tried to keep them only roughly rendered. Maybe I should really work a bit more on them, though.
And you're right about the moon. Now that I look at the image again, it does distract me too. Only I'm afraid that putting a cloud in front of it wouldn't warrant the bright lighting conditions anymore. While painting I already felt the need to change it from a crescent to a full moon.

Aah, I see. Decisions, decisions. Well another idea that came to me, how about keeping the moon as it is ( you could even make it larger ) but dimming or even losing the lights from the structures? That way people would first see the moon lit landscape and then after a while realise there's also a harbour and temple? It's always cool when you notice something in an image that wasn't immediately obvious!
Be aware, this is advice from someone who is nowhere nearly as talented as you!!! :blowkiss:

One doesn't have to be "talented" in order to have a valid opinion! :)

But, the problem with this solution is that the temple and harbour are the main objective of the image, not the moon.
So I suppose I might give some clouds in front of the moon a try instead. Nod
Thanks again for the input! Any possibility is worth a thought, even if doesn't work out.

Terrific! I love the head-shaped entryway. The atmosphere seems a bit mysterious (always cool), and I like the two sources of lighting. Great job. :)
